Pet Care & Sizing Guide
Pet Care & Sizing Guide
A few pointers to help you pick the right fit and get the most out of your TAILS AND TRENDS gear.
Collars & Harnesses
- Measure your pet's neck (for collars) or chest girth, just behind the front legs (for harnesses), with a soft tape measure — not too tight, not too loose.
- As a rule of thumb, you should be able to fit two fingers flat between the collar/harness and your pet's body.
- If a product's variant options list a specific size range in centimetres or inches, use your measurement to pick the closest match. If you're between sizes, size up for a growing puppy or kitten, and size down for a snug, secure fit on an adult pet.
- Re-check the fit every few weeks for young, growing animals.
Beds, Nests & Furniture
- Measure your pet from nose to base of tail while lying stretched out, then add 15–20cm so they have room to curl up or sprawl comfortably.
- For cat trees and scratching posts, taller isn't always better — make sure the base is wide enough that it won't tip when your cat jumps on.
Toys & Grooming Tools
- Always supervise pets with new toys, especially anything with small or detachable parts, until you're confident they won't chew through or swallow pieces.
- Remove and replace any toy that becomes cracked, frayed, or damaged.
- For grooming brushes and combs, start gently and work in the direction of hair growth — especially on sensitive areas — and stop if your pet seems uncomfortable.
- Clean grooming tools regularly (most brushes and combs can be wiped down or rinsed) to keep them hygienic for repeated use.
